Burleigh Heads Attractions
Tourism is one of Burleigh Heads’ strongest suits. Its most notable tourist destination is the Burleigh Beach, a beach that faces to the northeast and offers excellent waters and waves, most especially for surfing buffs. One of the most striking things about the beach is that it comes in a gently curving shape, which gives it a secluded feel. It is surrounded by the National Park at its southern area and Surfers Paradise at its north. The beaches are also enhanced by a natural backdrop of the Norfolk Island Pines, which provides a natural habitat for various native Australian bird species.

Aside from sprawling your vacation away on a beach in Burleigh Heads, you can also sneak in a few other attractions and sights while you’re there. Burleigh Heads is also noted for its rich wildlife, which you can appreciate through a visit to the David Fleay Wildlife Park. The park was named after its founder, naturalist David Fleay. It dates back to 1952 and is currently the abode of native animals including some rare species. The wildlife park provides tourists a great place for walking, hiking, and jogging. The climate there is cool enough to make such activities comfortable and easily manageable, and of course, there is just too much to see.

Another popular landmark in Burleigh Heads is the Bora Ring. A Bora is a particular initiation ceremony conducted by the indigenous Australians. The Bora Ring is said to have been one of the places where such initiations took place. One Bora Ring usually consists of two rings in actual that are joined by a walkway in the middle. The rings are actually rounded mounds of earth that rise up from the surrounding area. Burleigh Heads have managed to retain an interesting site of a Bora Ring, which is a marvel especially for history lovers to see.

The Burleigh Heads National Park is made up of 25 hectares of coastal rainforests. The park is near a site of an ancient volcano that used to be active millions of years ago. The Burleigh Heads National Park is always part of sample itineraries offered to visitors of the suburb.
